Director of Alivena Inspirational Academy of Music and Arts

Lily Li graduated from Queen's University with Bachelor's degree of Music education. Her university studies led her to be inspired by several of her professors to explore and create different pedagogical approaches in teaching both piano and music theory. As both a director and instructor at Alivena Inspirational Academy of Music and Arts, Lily is also a music instructor of the Canadian Life Education Growth Association and has served as a judge for many music competitions. She has been engaged in community charity activities and has been particularly active in Canadian and International concert events. As such, she encourages her students to participate in concerts, master classes, music competitions, and performances. Her students have participated in music festivals and competitions in both China and United States (representing Canada). She firmly believes that home and school are important to a child's musical development, and that children can only transcend the obstacles they face with the unflagging support of parents and family.

Team of Teachers   

Alivena Inspirational Academy of Music and Arts is composed of a team of experts specializing in music education, music performance and music research. All of our teachers are well educated in music, internationally renowned and highly skilled. The academy determined to create a "innovative music art education," and believes that music can be creative, and inspirational to all. We regularly invited music professors and masters to give masterclass and many performance experiences to offer. All of our instructors are graduated from universities in Europe, Asia and North America. We also regularly invite professors and renowned musicians from universities to give students masterclasses.  

Crystal Xu

Crystal is a music performance graduate from Coventry University, completed her intermediate from Raffles College of Higher Education in Art, Singapore. She also completed TEFL course provided by Toronto University. Music has been her biggest passion ever since she was kid and teaching and sharing the beauty of music have been her dream since she was in high school. She volunteered as both English and Music teacher in an orphanage and she felt the joy of sharing and teaching knowledge. During she stays in UK, she has participated in various activities that involves with teaching, such as volunteering as a teaching assistant in music class of primary school. She have desire to do everything possible to ensure that her students not only meet but indeed exceed all of the academic goals and targets set for them. She also feels that her strengths are her passion and commitment to teaching. Moreover, she always willing to work with other staff members and working efficiently as part of a team.

Christopher Dembski(B.Mus)
Chris is quickly establishing himself as a woodwind player, teacher, composer and arranger of note in Toronto. Chris is active in the jazz and creative music scene in Toronto, performing regularly with projects such as the Sonuskapos Jazz Orchestra and The Anthology Project, on saxophones, clarinets and flutes. Recent theatre work includes the production of The Life with Call it a Day Productions and performances as a subbing musician on Darling of the Day with Talk is Free Theatre. In addition to performance, Chris has enjoyed sharing his enthusiasm for music, working as a teacher and clinician with the Humber College Jazz in the Schools initiative for several years, aimed at strengthening music programs and inspiring students across the Toronto District School Board. Chris completed his Bachelor of Music at Humber College, where he had the opportunity to learn from many of Canada’s premier musicians, including Pat LaBarbera, Mark Promane and Denny Christianson.

Didier Lozano
Didi studied music in Paris and Bordeaux. His passion for music brings him to explore various aspects of music. For the last 20 years, he has performed solo as well as with bands on different types of music. Didier is also an active songwriter, arranger and performer. Didier has been teaching students of all ages for 20 years. He is an easygoing and versatile instructor who adapts to the styles and creativities of his students. His experiences bring him to find simple and playful ways to teach subjects that can be complicated or intimidating. Didier is enthusiastic to share his passions and skills with his students on jazz, rock, blues, funk, latin, reggae, country, popular music, and everything about improvisation.

Michael Yoon
Michael is a Professional pianist, and avid singer-songwriter and music producer, born and raised in Toronto, Michael Yoon is currently enrolled in an Honours Bachelor Degree of Fine Arts specializing in Music at York University. He has performed at venues across the GTA, and his self-produced recordings have been aired on AM radio. Introduced to the art form at a young age, he began teaching himself music and piano listening to records, tape cassettes, and CDs. His specific skills are in song arrangement, improvisation, as well as contemporary styles. He has seen the importance music plays in our day-to-day lives, and so he stands by the motto: “Music not only touches the emotions and physical well-being, but also our soul.”

Leo Yang
Leo with his diverse performing experiences on stages from China to Canada, Leo has spanning over 20 years of experiencing with various music instruments. He began his music education since he was 4, and continuously retains a passion for music. He enjoys sharing his knowledge with learners, and will guide you through various styles and levels of playing guitar. Anything from finger picking, to chords and rhythm, and many other effective playing techniques, even if you have absolutely no experience with guitar, or music at all. He provides a fun, inspiring and motivational learning journey, suited around your musical interests. All theoretical terms like scales, chords, fingering variations or strumming will be planted along the course of learning. Whether you want to learn the guitar for fun, join bands or even entered a career in music. It's easily achievable for anyone to pick up a guitar and sing along with it!

Martha Rodriguez
Martha she started to study music at 6 years old in Yamaha academy of music. At 12 years old star to study flute at National Conservatory of Music of Mexico, in 2008 she continued her flute specialization at Superior School of Music where was part of the symphonic band of music and later of the symphonic orchestra from this institution. In the same year she began study psychology in the National Autonomous University of Mexico. As professional flutist she was part of Tlaxcala State Symphonicorchestra, Mexico City Orchestra and Chorus, and ensembles of Mexican traditional music, which played with in many forums and festival around her country. Her music experience has been not only playing, as teaching in private lessons, social programs and private schools in Mexico and now in Canada.

Zac Goerlitz
Zac is an experienced musician and teacher who has helped hundreds of aspiring musicians find their musical passions. He has shared the concert stage with many great musicians, and enjoys producing music on his own time. He is months away from completing his Master of Music degree at the University of Toronto, and holds a Bachelor of Performing Arts degree, a Music Diploma in Voice, a Conducting Certificate, and a Worship Leading Certificate. With a flexible teaching style Zac is able to discover and meet the needs of students of all backgrounds and ages.

 Grace Liang
     Grace ChuYü Liang is a soprano, who is currently studying Music in Voice Performance in the University of Toronto. Grace is experienced in teaching children singing. Recently, Grace has won the opportunity to sing for the famous soprano Lena Hellström in February.  Grace is experienced in classical vocal teaching. She has been working with little kids as a teaching authority since 2013. Some of her recent teaching experiences include teaching at the Arcadia Academy of Music by urgent demand for the past summer and being a sole teaching authority for The Vineyard Summer Singer Program 2017. In addition to singing her annual Juries and in concerts held by the university, Grace is often invited as a guest performer in recitals and concerts, recent examples include singing a solo in The Noon Hour project, the Singer’s Concert, held in Walter Hall and MCBC Choir Annual Recital 2017.

Rachel Tan

Rachel puts all her effort and commitment into teaching and working with her students. She’s a responsible and enthusiastic person who is very assistive in working as a teacher and finding a common ground with every student of mine. She has Diploma in Music Performance, Licentiate of Trinity College London Piano Recital with a distinction. She also has 9 years of teaching experience back in Malaysia. She’s able to speak and write in English, Chinese and Malay. She is always looking for opportunities to develop her music knowledge and piano techniques. She has participated in several seminars conducted by Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and Trinity College London. She has recently attended a seminar lectured by Alicja Fiderkiewicz in April 2017.

Vladimir Oppenheim

       Vladimir begun studying piano at the age of 6 and continued his education in
Special Music School. He has earned a Bachelor in Music in Piano performance from The Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem, Israel.  Amongst Vladimir’s teachers, there were prominent pianists Boris Lvov Camp; Michael Boguslavsky. The years of studies at the Academy were devoted also to widening a piano repertoire. Vladimir received numerous acclaims for performances of pianos concertos by Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff. As of late, Vladimir has continued his studies with pianist Gregory Haimovsky in New York. Vladimir’s repertoire encompasses great classics and 20th century composers such as Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Scriabin, Ravel, Shostakovich, Schubert and others. Vladimir has numerous students who successfully accomplished advanced level and participated in music competitions and festivals such as Seattle International Piano Festival & Competition, Alexander Camp; Buono International Piano Competition, Kiwanis and others.

Michael Lukaszuk

       Michael Lukaszuk is a multifaceted musician with interests spanning composition, guitar performance and music technology. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music. He studied guitar in Toronto with Eli Kassner and at the University of Western Ontario with Wilma Van Berkel. As a guitarist he participated in masterclasses with internationally renowned artists such as Graham Anthony Devine, Philip Candelaria and Patrick Roux.  As a composer his interests lie in the use of computers in music, and extending the classical guitar literature. His music has been performed at international festivals and conferences across Canada and the United States, and in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Poland, South Korea, Romania and China. In 2017, Michael served on faculty at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music and Miami University (Oxford, Ohio).

AMY (Jing Yan)

        Pianist Jingdescribed as an “extremely sensitive and musical pianist with a natural flow and fluent phrasing” (Christina PetrowskaQuilico). She has a passion for engaging audiences with  exciting performances and teaching piano. Jing received a Bachelor’s degree on piano performance from York University. She has trained from Christina PetrowskaQuilico who was named one of 20 “not to miss pianists” of 2014 by CBC Music and the next year deemed her one of The 25 Best Canadian Classical Pianists. In school period, Jing is honored as an excellent student. At the same time, she has been invited to perform with violins, clarinets and singers as a piano accompanist. Jing has dedicated to teaching; her hundreds of students can attest to her unique and effective teaching styles. Her students have maintained consistent high scores in RCM exams over the past years. By coaching students, they won first place on “The 6th OYMI International Music Festival”. At the same time, she has been awarded at “Outstanding Young Musicians International Music Festival” hosted by LEGAC International Arts & Cultural Exchange Centre LEGAC and Global Outstanding Chinese Artist Association.

All of our instructors are graduated from universities in Europe, Asia and North America. We also regularly invite professors and renowned musicians from universities to give students masterclasses.
